Obituary of Roger Dale Newman ROGER DALE NEWMAN Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, September 18, 2001 Roger Dale Newman, 54, died Sept. 17, 2001. Born in Baltimore, Md., he was a son of the late Dale Eugene and Elizabeth White Newman and a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from the National Guard and was a member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Jesse Newman of Shawnee, Kan.; two sisters, Patricia N. Pritchard of Wellington, Kan. and Susan N. Blount of Kill Devil Hills; a brother, John Newman of Manteo; and several aunts, uncles, and many other family members. He was predeceased by a son, Roger Dale Newman Jr.; and a brother, Walker Newman. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, Va., with the Rev. Steve Bradshaw officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery , Courtland . The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
