Obituary of Julius Baker Newsome Jr. JULIUS BAKER NEWSOME JR. Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, February 13, 1997 Julius Baker ``J.B.'' Newsome Jr., 76, of the 2100 block of Carrsville Hwy., died Feb. 11, 1997, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Mr. Newsome was born in Southampton County and was the son of the late Julius Baker and Fannie Britton Newsome Sr. Mr. Newsome was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired machine tender on No. 6 paper machine from Union Camp Corp. with 37 years of service. He was a member and deacon of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. He was a charter member of both the Franklin Hunt Club and the Windsor Volunteer Rescue Squad and was awarded the volunteer of the year award from Isle of Wight County in 1994. He was also a member of Local Union (NU)1488 UPIU, AFL-CIO for 37 years, Franklin VFW Post 4411, Woodmen of the World and the NRA. Mr. Newsome is survived by his wife of 54 years, Roberta Foxwell Newsome; a daughter, Rebecca Lorraine Newsome Bulls and her husband, Wayne of Chesapeake; two sons, Dennis Morgan Newsome and his wife, Becky, of Zachary, La., and Ralph James ``Jimmy'' Newsome and his wife, Mary Frances, of Franklin; a brother, Romie Newsome of Burdette; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Julius Baker Newsome III. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Dr. Richard L. Peerey and the Rev. David Johnson. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park . The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Windsor Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O.
