Obituary of Roberta Indiana Foxwell Newsome ROBERTA INDIANA FOXWELL NEWSOME Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, November 2, 2005 FRANKLIN - Roberta Indiana Foxwell Newsome, 81, died Oct. 31, 2005, at Tandem Healthcare of Windsor. Born in Cape Charles, Va., she was the widow of Julius Baker "J.B." Newsome Jr. and was predeceased by a son, Julius Baker Newsome III. For three years during the 1970s, Mrs. Newsome was a mystery advice columnist for The Tidewater News. Her "Write Miss Rin" column helped all ages with friendly responses to those who needed advice. While some friends and family knew who Miss Rin was, her identity was never revealed to the public. Rin was actually the initials for Roberta Indiana Newsome. Mrs. Newsome was an accomplished artist and many of her oil paintings were award winning. She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Lorraine Bulls and husband Wayne of Portsmouth; two sons, Dennis Morgan Newsome and wife Becky of Zachary, La., and Ralph James "Jimmy" Newsome and wife Mary Frances of Sedley; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many other children, now grown, who called her "Grandma" and enjoyed meals at her house and a roof over their heads. A funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. David L. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park . The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Franklin Branch, P.O.
