Margaret Nurney Magette, 79, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002 at Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Born in Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late Willie Waverly and Mary Jane "Mae" Gray Nurney. She was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph K. Magette Sr.; a son, Joseph K. Magette Jr.; sister-in-law, Helen N. Nurney; brother-in-law, Gillette T. Bryant Sr.; three nieces, Linda N. Vick, Kay N. Pope and Mary Betty Vaughan; three nephews, Gillette T. Bryant Jr., Bill Nurney and Al Ballard. She was predeceased by three sisters, Gladys Nurney Whitehead, Wilma Nurney Bryant, Nellie Nurney Ballard; and a brother, Henry Nurney.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Riverside Cemetery with the Rev. Kay Barstow Gentry officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. today at 22202 Linden St. and suggests that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1290 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, VA 22901. Wright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
