Mr. O'Berry was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in World War II and the Korean War. He was a vender at New Bern Farmers Market. He retired in 1987 from Electrolux Corp. after 27 years and had worked for O'Berrys Meat Packing in Suffolk. He was predeceased by a son, Hubert Rauls O'Berry and was a member of Antioch Freewill Baptist Church and Laymens fellowship. Survivors include his wife, Jean Moore O'Berry; a son, E.F. O'Berry III of Smithfield; a daughter, Carolyn O'Berry Whitfield of Vanceboro, N.C.; two sisters, Ruby Hunter of Suffolk and Mary Louise Aston of Suffolk; a grandchild, Alexander R. O'Berry of Youngsville, S.C.; and a step granddaughter, Lee Jordan of Raleigh, N.C. A funeral will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel by Dr. Jerry English. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at noon Monday in Liberty Springs Christian Church, Suffolk, followed by a visitation.
