CAPRON Mildred Padgett Peele, 83, died Dec. 22, 2002, at her residence.
Born in Little Washington, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Tedie Padgett and the widow of Marvin Wells Peele. She was a seamstress for more than 30 years, a member of the Sunshine Club of Capron and a member of Capron Baptist Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Marcia P. Wood and her husband, Kirk, of Montgomery, Ala., Anita P. Matthews and her husband, Alex, of Williamsburg, Jill P. Garrett and her husband, Dave, of Capron, Phyllis Peele of Suffolk, and Tracy P. Smith and her husband, Mark, of South Hill; three sons, Tex Peele and his wife, Shirley, of Albuquerque, N.M., Paul Peele and his wife, Carmela, of British Columbia, and Lowell Peele of Capron; two sisters, Eddrie Bradley of Chesapeake and Clara Sista Powers of Florida; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren, Mrs. Peele was predeceased by two brothers, Lewis Peele and William Peele; a sister, Frances Hedgepeth; and three grandsons, Richard Matthews, Troy Peele and Adam Holtorf Garrett.
A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in Capron Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Portsmouth. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin.
