Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - February 8, 2002 

Della Mae Peden Clark, 63, a resident of Courtland Healthcare Center, died Feb. 7, 2002, at Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Va. A lifelong resident of Southampton County, she was the daughter of Archer W. Peden Sr. and the late Lucille Ritter Peden. A loving daughter, sister and mother, she enjoyed gardening and sewing, and was a dedicated, lifelong member of Millfield Baptist Church, Ivor. She was predeceased by her husband, William Rossie Clark Jr. 

Besides her father, Mrs. Clark is survived by two daughters, Shirley C. Gill and husband Hurley of Radford, Va., Patricia C. Emmel and husband Jackie of Oceanside, Ga.; two brothers, Willard L. Peden and Roger Dean Peden, both of Smithfield; and four grandchildren, John Andrew Emmel, Madison Taylor Emmel, Jayton Hurley Gill and Jordan Whitley Gill. She was predeceased by a sister, Lennie Lee Peden and two brothers, Andrew Lee Peden and Archer W. "Bean" Peden Jr. 

Funeral services will be held at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ira Hudgins officiating. Burial will be in Ivor Cemetery , Ivor. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Millfield Baptist Church or Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad.
