Obituary of William Farest Pierce Jr. WILLIAM msng PIERCE JR. Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - February 1, 2001 William Farest Pierce Jr., died Jan. 30, 2001, in Obici Hospital. He was the son of the late William Farest Pierce Sr. and Martha Williams Pierce. He had retired from Starkey Matthews Co., Inc., after 40 years of service. He was vice president, general manager and treasurer of the company. He was a member of First Baptist Church, a deacon, a past head usher, head teller, assistant treasurer, training union director and a member of the Thurman Hayes Sunday School class. He was a charter member of Nansemond Masonic Lodge No. 77, Mount Nebo Royal Arch Chapter No. 20, and Khedive Shrine in Norfolk. Mr. Pierce is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathryn Daughtrey Pierce of Suffolk; two daughters and their husbands, Janice P. and Robert J. Tidwell of Virginia Beach, and Connie P. and Mark Gunnells of Franklin, Va.; three grandsons, William Alexander Tidwell of Virginia Beach, Charles Jason Whitley of Franklin, and Mark Sumner Gunnells of Aulander, N.C.; sister-in-law, Ann T. Pierce of Suffolk; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Issac M. Pierce. A funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church, N. Main St., Suffolk, by Dr. David Chauncey. Interment will be in the Western Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends at Sidney F.
