Grace Kirkland Pond, 92, died Dec. 17, 1996. 

Mrs. Pond was a native of Southampton County and was the daughter of the late George Cuthbert and Lucy Rowe Kirkland and the widow of John Richard Pond. She attended Farmville State Teachers College. She was a former teacher in Nansemond County, a former postal worker in Franklin and a former employee of the Peanut Growers Co-Op Association. She attended Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church, Richmond, and was a member of the Courtland Baptist Church and its Story Bible Class. 

She is survived by a sister, Ethel K. Finley and her husband, J.J. of Franklin; three nephews, George Kirkland Priggen, William Kirkland Finley and Jesse Johnson Finley III. 

The graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Riverside Cemetery . Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is in charge.

Grace Kirkland Pond, 92, died 17 December 1996.  

Mrs. Pond was a native of Southampton County and was the daughter of the late George Cuthbert and Lucy Rowe Kirkland and the widow of John Richard Pond. She attended Farmville State Teachers College.
