Born in Southampton County, he was a son of the late John Henry and Lula Crowder Pope. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was retired from Union Camp Corp., where he was a paper maker on the No. 2 paper machine. Survivors include his wife, Louise Bradshaw Pope; two sons, Marvin B. Pope Jr. of Franklin and Larry K. Pope and his wife Delores of Zuni; two grandchildren, Michael Keith Pope and April Marie Pope; and a special friend, Ricky Dunn. He was predeceased by three brothers, Eldridge, James and Hinton Pope. A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Durward Vaughan. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wright Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
