Born in Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Hattie M. Jennings and the widow of Raymond L. Porter. She was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy P. Jenkins of Richmond; a grandson, David T. Jenkins of Orono, Maine; six sisters, Irene J. Epperson of Charlotte, N.C., Jonnie N. Eley of Franklin, Sallye N. Kordulak of Virginia Beach, Elma N. Smith of Sedly, Mary N. Edwards of Newport News and Elien N. Isom of Tucson, Ariz.; and two brothers, Shirley G. Newsome of Bumpass and William W. Newsome Jr. of Richmond. She was predeceased by six brothers, C. Riddick Jennings, R. Brantley Newsome, Oliver H. Newsome, W. Phonsie Newsome, Leslie W. Newsome and Leon Newsome. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Lafayette Wilkins officiating. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park .
