Obituary of Stella Lilley Powell STELLA LILLEY GREEN RAMEY LILLEY POWELL The Tidewater News  07-25-2002 SUFFOLK  Stella Lilley Powell, 83, formerly of Suffolk, died July 20 in her residence. She was a native of Gates County, N.C., and the widow of James W. Powell. She was a retired sales clerk from Montgomery Ward, and a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late James Z. Green and Louvenia Umphlette Green. She was also predeceased by her husbands, Donald Ramey and Horace E. Lilley; four sisters; and one brother. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Frances L. Duke of Suffolk, Ann L. and Paul McCormick of Trenton, N.J., and Donna L. and William Marino of Suffolk; son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Jane Lilley of Franklin; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jimmy Green of Gates, N.C.; sister, Peggy Wright of Suffolk; stepmother, Delphine Green; and devoted friends, Sandra and Wayne Turner, and Helen B. Green. A funeral was conducted July 23 in Southside Baptist Church by the Rev. R. Stewart McCarter. Interment was in Cypress Chapel Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family at 305 Lake Drive, Suffolk. Memorials may be made to the Southside Baptist Church Building Fund, 917 Carolina Road, Suffolk, VA 23434.
