Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Monday, February 7, 2000 

Floyd Shelton Powers, 95, of the Huntersdale area of Franklin, died Feb. 5, 2000. 

A lifelong resident of Southampton County, he was retired from Union Camp Corp., and was the widower of Annie Ruth Scott. Mr. Powers was a member of Woodman of the World and was known for his love of fishing. 

Survivors include three daughters, Anna Catherine Fowler of Carrsville, Edna Keesee of Chesapeake and Shirley Hartman of Thaxton, Va.; a son, Ryland Powers of Courtland; five half sisters; a half brother; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons, Junious and Edward Powers. 

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Southampton Memorial Park by the Rev. Dr. Ira D. Hudgins. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the American Legion on Armory Drive. Wright Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
