Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - January 31, 1998 Eppa Beale Prince Jr., 77, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, at Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin. He was predeceased by his wife, Ethelyn Story Prince, and his parents, Eppa Beale Prince Sr. and Bessie Drewry Prince. Mr. Prince was a farmer and had retired as a rural mail carrier after 37 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a graduate of Newsoms High School and attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Mr. Prince was a member of the Newsoms United Methodist Church, the Newsoms Hunt Club, a former member of the Newsoms Volunteer Fire Department, past president of the Newsoms Ruritan Club, and a former Southampton County School Board member. He had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Survivors include his son, Douglas Thomas Prince of Newsoms ; a brother, George Prince of Courtland; sisters, Elizabeth P. Barnes and Virginia P. Barkley, both of Severn, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hollywood Cemetery , Newsoms , by the Rev. Derek Koolman and the Rev. Kenneth Williams. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins, and at other times at the residence in Newsoms .
