Obituary of Clyde Crichton Pulley CLYDE CRICHTON PULLEY Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, October 19, 2005 COURTLAND - Clyde Crichton Pulley passed away Oct. 17, 2005, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born April 17, 1935, in Capron, she was a daughter of the late Fletcher and Forrest Williams Crichton. She was a legal secretary for her father-in-law, Junius W. Pulley Sr. and her brother-in-law, F. Bert Pulley, then secretary/treasurer for Nottoway House Furniture for 35 years. Mrs. Pulley was a board member and secretary/treasurer for Southampton Academy in its early years. Her great joys were playing bridge, shopping for a "bargain" and spending as much time as she could with her family at their second home on Lake Gaston. She was a member of Courtland Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, C. Graham Pulley; two sons, Collin G. Pulley Jr. and wife Judy of Courtland and Jonathan O. Pulley and wife Amy of Apex, N.C.; one grandson, Jonathan O. Pulley Jr.; and one sister, Winifred Fanshaw and husband Ken of Kitty Hawk, N.C. She was predeceased by a son, Paul C. Pulley and a brother, Bentley Crichton. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery with the Rev. James W. Browder III officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence, 28521 Pulley Drive, Courtland , and suggest memorials be sent to the Rawls Museum Arts, Paul C. Pulley Memorial Scholarship Fund, 22376 Linden St., Courtland , VA 23837. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, has charge of arrangements. The family would like to thank Dr. Alan Edwards, the staff of "2 South" and Hospice at Southampton Memorial Hospital, and caregivers, Gina Barber and Jevon Keller, for making her last weeks comfortable.
