Obituary of Zella Rose Rawles ZELLA ROSE RAWLES Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - April 21, 2004 Zella Rose Rawles, widow of Richard "Dick" Holmes Rawles Jr., died April 19, 2004, at Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Isle of Wight County, she was the only child of the late Fenton and Annie Ballard Rose. Mrs. Rawles was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Avandale, Ariz. and the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn R. Jones and husband Buck of Windsor; five grandchildren, Patricia J. Vaught of Brussells, Belgium, Jennifer J. Gore and William Fenton Jones, both of Windsor, Rick Whitley of Washington State and Johnny Syndergaard, stationed with the U.S. Army in Hawaii; and four great-grandchildren, Chase and Austin Gore and Jarrad and Josh Whitley. Mrs. Rawles was predeceased by a daughter, Peggy R. Syndergaard. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Van Niel officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Carolyn and Buck Jones, No. 8 Virginia Ave., Windsor and suggest that memorials be made to the Windsor Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 483, Windsor, VA 23487.
