Graves, Rosalind Rawlings

Rosalind Rawlings Graves, 79, a retired music teacher, died Thursday,
November 11, 2004 in Suffolk. A native of Franklin, she was the daughter
of the late Virginia Ford and Hubert S. Rawlings Sr. She was a graduate
of Franklin High School and a 1946 graduate of Greensboro College. She
was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, the Franklin Book
Club, and the Farnklin Music Study Club. Survivors include a brother,
Dr. Hubert S. Rawlings Jr. of Franklin; a niece, Ann Rawlings Stutts and
husband, Lawrence of Powhatan; two great-nieces, Alison and Whitney
Stutts; two nephews, Robert Maxwell Rawlings and Stephen Ford Rawlings,
both of Suffolk. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday
at Poplar Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Linda Alvis officiating. The
family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Wright
Funeral Home and suggests memorials be made to High Street United
Methodist Church, P.O. Box 218, Franklin, Va. 23851.

Joe Elbert Frances Griffin

Joe Elbert Frances Griffin, 70, died September 22, 2004, in Norfolk
following a long illness.

Born on March 13, 1934, in Southampton County, he was the son of the
late Maynard and Eula Ferguson Griffin.

Mr. Griffin, a Christian who dearly loved his family, was a member of
the Homebound Ministry of Black Creek Baptist Church and an avid fox
hunter.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years, Anne; two sons, Kenny
(Mary) Griffin of Boykins and Chuck (Eugenia) Griffin of Franklin; five
grandchildren, Amber and Earl Hammond, William Griffin, Charlie Griffin
and JoAnne Griffin; two great-grandchildren, Bradley and Hannah Hammond;
three sisters, Shirley Vaughan, (John), of Margaretteville, NC; Estelle
Crump, (Wayne), of Supply, NC and Lucille Roe of Suffolk; a brother,
Fletcher Griffin (Joan) of Suffolk; numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Lawrence and
Buck Griffin.

A funeral service was held Saturday, September 25, 2004, at the chapel
of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Kitts and the Rev. Willis
Switzer officiating. Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms.

Memorial may be made to the Black Creek Baptist Church Building Fund,
34163 Vicksville Rd., Franklin, VA 23851.
