Roberts III, 41, of the 16200 block of Drake Road, a farrier and horse trainer, died June 15, 1991, in Southampton County. Mr. Roberts, a native of Conway, N.C., was employed with J.P.R. Quarter Horse Farms. He was a former P.G.A. golf pro at Southern Pines Country Club in Southern Pines, N.C., Carolina Trace Country Club in Sanford, N.C., and Willow Springs Country Club in Wilson, N.C. He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and the American Quarter Horse Association. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech. Survivors include his wife, Pricilla Marks Roberts; two stepdaughters, Amy Rutledge and Holly Trew, and a stepson, John Trew, all of Sedley; his parents, Betty P. Roberts and James E. Roberts Jr. of Courtland; two sisters, Robbie L. Neave of Ivor and Betty L. White of Ayden, N.C.; a brother, Chuck Roberts of Ayden; and paternal grandmother, Pauline Roberts of Courtland. The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. today in Franklin Baptist Church by the Rev. Michael J. Clingenpeel. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the church.
