Obituary of Stanley Leroy Rodgers Jr. STANLEY LEROY RODGERS JR Virginian Pilot - 10-13-2005 SUFFOLK - Stanley Leroy Rodgers, Jr., 91, a former longtime resident of Suffolk passed away in Pulaski, Va., Oct. 11, 2005. He retired after 32 years as a machinist for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth. He was a native of Portsmouth and the widower of Louise Beale Rodgers. Mr. Rodgers was a member of Suffolk Christian Church, where he was a deacon and a member of the Baraca Class. He was also a member of the Suffolk Masonic Lodge No. 30 for 50 years. He was the son of the late Novella Copeland Rodgers and Stanley Leroy Rodgers, Sr. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, H. Beale and Janet K. Rodgers of Radford, Va.; grandsons, Shannon L. Rodgers of Radford, Michael B. Cox, Jr. of Draper, Va., and Jon Marc Cox of Barren Springs, Va.; granddaughter, Caroline Hickam of Savannah, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Madeline and Liam Hickam, Mikayla, Meagan and Molly Cox; sister, Mildred R. Harrell of Suffolk; two special nieces, Genevieve Hewitt and Phyllis Garlic and their families. The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Suffolk Christian Church by the Rev. Michael D. Halley.
