Valon Frederick Rountree, 82, a resident of the East Pavilion, died Dec. 14, 1993. 

Mr. Rountree was born in Newsoms and was formerly of Sunbeam. He was retired from the state Alcoholic Beverage Control store in Franklin. He was a member of Newsoms United Methodist Church and was the widower of Alma Lundquist Rountree. 

Survivors include one sister, Ollie R. Blythe of Clemmons, N.C.; and two brothers, Donald E. Rountree Sr. of Handsom and Lemuel V. Rountree of Newsoms. 

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Southampton Memorial Park by the Rev. Pat Tony and the Rev. Kenneth Williams. Wright Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the East Pavilion Discretionary Fund.
