Mabel Drake Sanford, widow of Lothair Jesse ``Jutt'' Sanford, died June 30, 1998. 

A native of Newsoms , she was daughter of the late James L. and Ronie D. Drake. She attended Mary Washington College and retired as an officer of United Virginia Bank, now Crestar Bank. She was a member of Barnes United Methodist Church. 

Surviving are two nephews, J. David Drake and Danny R. Drake of Newsoms ; and a sister-in-law, Estelle Drake. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Sylvester James Drake and Robert Edward Drake. 

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Hollywood Cemetery , Newsoms , by the Rev. Charles Langley. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
