Obituary of Kate Blythe Harrison Saunders KATE BLYTHE HARRISON SAUNDERS Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - August 12, 2002 Kate Blythe Harrison Saunders, born Aug. 19, 1904, in Southampton County, died Aug. 10, 2002. She was a daughter of the late James Robert and Nettie Joyner Blythe and the widow of Gurley W. Saunders. She was raised a Quaker at Bethel Friends Meeting, and was a member of Hunterdale United Church of Christ and its Women's Fellowship. She had worked as a nurse's aid at Crippled Children's Hospital in Richmond. Survivors include four sisters, Bernice B. Dunn, Rebie B. Harrison and Marjorie B. Cobb, all of Franklin, and Frances B. Clements of Roanoke. She was predeceased by her first husband, William David Harrison; a sister, Leola B. Atkins; and six brothers, Claude, Bernard, Herman, Percy, Ashby and Harwood Blythe. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Blythe officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery .
