Hazel Elizabeth Scott Futrell, 85, of the 25600 block of Meherrin Road died March 9, 1997, in Courtland Health Care.
She was the daughter of the late Henry O'Berry and Flora Yates Scott and the widow of Walter Wingate Futrell. She was a member of Courtland Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Flora F. Williams and her husband, Dr. David C. Williams of Richmond; son, Walter Wingate Futrell Jr. and his wife, Alease, of Capron; two sisters, Jennie S. Grissom and Mildred S. Ward, both of Courtland ; nine grandchildren, Susan W. Piasecki, Sandra W. Ferguson, Sarah W. Mihalcoe, David Williams Jr., Wingate Futrell III, David Futrell, Belinda Dunlow, Keith Futrell and Chad Futrell; and six great-grandchildren, Lori Ann and Jessica Piasecki, Jordan and Kaye Marie Ferguson, Lindsey Futrell and Jay Dunlow.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today by the Rev. Thomas Caulkins at Riverside Cemetery , Courtland . The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. today in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin. Memorials may be made to the Courtland Rescue Squad, Courtland , Va. 23837.
