Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of Southampton County, one of 10 children of the late Enoch and Ossie Smith. Mr. Smith was a retired supervisor for Aster Nut Products in Boykins and was a Methodist. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mary Griffin Smith; two sons, Kenneth I. Smith and Marion G. Smith, both of Boykins; one sister, Clara Belle Cobb of Franklin; two brothers, Enoch J. Smith of Holland and Wilbur Smith of Chesapeake; four grandchildren, Sharon Cobb of Boykins, Craig Smith of Newport News, Miriam Birdsong of Suffolk and Todd Smith of Williamsburg; and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Smith was predeceased by two sisters and four brothers. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Wright Funeral Home, Boykins, with the Rev. Durward Vaughan officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Boykins Volunteer Rescue Squad or to Clarksbury Church.
