Mr. Speight was born in Chowan County, N.C., and was retired from W. Hunter Scott Contractors and the City of Franklin. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Courtland United Methodist Church. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Dundalow Speight. Survivors include one sister, Evelyn S. Joyner of Franklin; and nieces and nephews. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Thomas G. Lee. Burial with military honors will be in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today and other times at Evelyn Joyner's home, 28201 Hemlock St., Kingsdale, where the family will assemble for the funeral at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
