ALMA SPIVEY BALLARD

Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - February 20, 2004

Alma Spivey Ballard, 96, widow of Guthrie Emuel Ballard, died Feb. 18,
2004, at Autumn Care of Suffolk. A native of Isle of Wight County, she
was a daughter of the late Elam Napoleon and Elizabeth Babb Spivey. Mrs.
Ballard was a lifelong member of Colosse Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia B. Larus and husband, Charles of
Richmond; a son, Guthrie Emuel Ballard Jr. and wife, Pat of Franklin; a
sister, Lois Howell of Smithfield; six grandchildren, Betsy Miles, Jenny
Larus, Michael Ballard, Shari Scott, Michelle Neal and Lorrie Coggsdale;
and five great-grandchildren, Braeden and Blaine Neal and Zack, Jacob
and Maggie Coggsdale. Mrs. Ballard was predeceased by three brothers,
Grafton, Hurley and Archer Spivey.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Colosse Baptist Church with
the Rev. Tim Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Colosse Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright
Funeral Home, Franklin.
