Mr. Spivey retired from Tidewater Construction Co. He was a member and former deacon of Franklin Baptist Church and a member of Franklin Masonic Lodge 151 and Khedive Temple of the Shrine. He was a charter member of Portsmouth Scottish Rite Bodies and a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Lizzie Francis Spivey; a daughter, Cathy S. Mendola of Bowling Green, Ky.; a son, Edward H. Spivey of Franklin; a sister, Mary S. Carter of Franklin; a brother, Elton M. Spivey of Norfolk; and four grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday in Franklin Baptist Church by the Rev. Ira Hudgins. Burial with Masonic rites will be at Southampton Memorial Park.
