Shirley Spivey Chappell, 58, of the 2200 block of Lake Cohoon Road, died March 13, 1997.
A native of Nansemond County, she was the daughter of the late Theodore Lee ''Chuck'' and Maggie Ward Spivey. Mrs. Chappell was an administrative assistant at Obici Hospital for 28 years and was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Edward Chappell; her daughter, Deborah Chappell Tadlock; her husband, Keith Tadlock Sr.; her sons, Thomas Edward Chappell, Craig Allen Chappell, his wife, Judy Chappell, all of Suffolk; four grandchildren, Christopher Foster, Christy Chappell, William Tyler Tadlock, Keith Tadlock Jr.; three brothers, Willie (Brother) Spivey, David Spivey, Elwood Spivey, all of Suffolk; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. Bob Vaughn. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 902 Pennsylvania Ave., Suffolk, Va. 23434; Obici Oncology Unit, 1900 N. Main St., Suffolk, Va. 23434, or to the Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, Va. 23439.
