Bertha Bryant Stephenson, 79, of the 1400 block of Clay St., died Aug. 17, 1991, in a hospital. 

Mrs. Stephenson was born in Southampton County. She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church and Women of the Moose Franklin Chapter 1670. 

Survivors include her husband, Robert Worth Stephenson; two daughters, Barbara S. Fields of San Antonio, and Faye S. Evans of Sanford, N.C.; two sisters, Susie Fary of Newport News and Virginia Coggsdale of Franklin; two brothers, J. Walter Bryant of Boykins and Thomas Bryant of Highland, Calif.; and two grandchildren. 

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Wright Funeral Home. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday and other times at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.
