Obituary of Robley Hunt Tankard Jr. ROBLEY HUNT TANKARD JR Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Monday, January 19, 2004 Robley Hunt "Bobby" Tankard Jr., 78, died Jan. 18, 2004. Born in Capeville, Va., he was a son of the late Robley H. and Alice Jones Tankard and was the widower of Sarah Bryant Tankard. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a 1951 graduate of V.P.I., and was a retired engineer with the Virginia Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Chester Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star and was a Methodist. Survivors include two sons, Robley Hunt Tankard III and Earl Bryant Tankard, both of Chesterfield; a sister, Jean T. Scott of Onancock, Va., and a granddaughter, Angie M. Tankard of Chesterfield. Bobby was an extremely kind-hearted person, well thought of by many and will be greatly missed. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Beechwood Cemetery with the Rev. Edward C. Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at 7 p.m. today at the home of Mrs. Betty Klotz, 3242 Stone Manor Circle, Chester, Va.
