Mrs. Tharrington was born in Nansemond County and was the daughter of Mary E. Carr of Franklin and the late Luther Carr. Other survivors include two sons, James Anthony Tharrington and Jimmy Lee Tharrington, both of Sedley; one sister, Mary L. Cutchins of Franklin; five brothers, John R. Carr and W. Curtis Carr, both of Franklin, George L. Carr and Ronald W. Carr, both of Portsmouth, and David B. Carr of Ivor. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Black Creek Cemetery .
