Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - February 1, 1999 Andrew Walter ``Dick'' Tucker Jr., 85, a lifelong resident of Newsoms , died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin. A retired farmer and an avid gardener, Dick was a member of Newsoms United Methodist Church and the Newsoms Hunt Club. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Blannie Story Tucker; a sister, Gertrude T. Cross of Portsmouth; a brother, Tom Tucker of California; three godsons, Glenn, Tommy and Dennis Crowder, all of Newsoms ; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew Walter and Minnie Porter Tucker, and four brothers and two sisters, Henry Tucker, Lula Whitehead, Lucy Harrington, Jake Tucker, Charlie Tucker and Robert ``Stray'' Tucker. The Rev. Charles Langley and the Rev. Kenneth Williams will hold a funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery , Newsoms . The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
