Jacqueline ``Jackie'' Evelyn Tucker Mapes, 65, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001. 

Mrs. Mapes was born in Spring Valley, N.Y., a daughter of the late Harlan and Gertrude Eckerson Tucker, and the widow of retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. John B. Mapes Jr. She was a graduate of Christopher Newport University, a substitute teacher in the Southampton County public school system, and a member of the Franklin Presbyterian Church. She was a former volunteer for the Southampton County Social Services, and a member of the Peninsula Bridge Club, Unit 110 of Newport News. 

Survivors include a daughter, Joanne J. Turner, and a son, Mark A. Mapes, both of Franklin; two sisters, Sharon Gattuso Aschenttino of Alexandria, Va., and Myrtle Callahan of Cinnamanson, N.J.; three brothers, Harlan Tucker of Aston, Pa., Michael Tucker of Matawan, N.J., and Robert Tucker of Newport, R.I.; and three grandsons, Ryan, Logan and Austyn Turner. 

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Franklin Presbyterian Church with the Rev. James Lambeth officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Poplar Spring Cemetery . The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wright Funeral Home. 

Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Ruth Petty, 116 Southampton Road, Franklin, VA 23851.
