Carolyn Wilson Gatling Vaughan, of Robin Hood Road, died May 6, 1991, in a hospital. 

Mrs. Vaughan, a native of Gates County, N.C., was the widow of Thomas Arthur Vaughan Jr. She was a graduate of East Carolina Teachers College and Euphradian Institute of Franklin and a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. 

Survivors include a daughter, Margaret V. Hooker of Sterling; a sister, Nina G. Parker of Gatesville, N.C.; and two brothers, William D. Gatling of St. Louis, Mo., and Dr. Robert Gatling of Jackson, Miss. 

The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Rev. Edward Pickup and the Rev. Michael Clingenpeel. Wright Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
