Obituary of Virginia D. Wellons VIRGINIA D WELLONS Virginia D. Wellons, 81, of Deale, died of cardiac and pulmonary disease Jan. 18 at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick. Mrs. Wellons was born Jan. 29, 1923, in Finksburg in Carroll County. In earlier days she was employed as a key member of the Naval Armament Development program at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab. A homemaker, she married Levi Thomas Wellons Jr. in 1970 and they lived in Deale since that time. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, James Aubrey Sykes of Rockford, Mich., and L. Thomas Wellons III of Deale; one daughter, Roseanne D. Vernon of La Plata; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Rausch Funeral Home, 8325 Mount Harmony Lane, Owings. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Rosemont Cemetery in Sedley, Va., weather permitting.
