Obituary of Homer Randolph Whitehead HOMER RANDOLPH WHITEHEAD Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Saturday, August 31, 2002, B-6 SEBRELL - Homer Randolph Whitehead, a retired farmer, died Aug. 30, 2002, at his residence after an extended illness. A native of Southampton County, he was in his 91st year, having been born to Bettie Rowe and Jordan Walter Whitehead July 4, 1912. Mr. Whitehead was a member of Sebrell United Methodist Church, the Sebrell Civic Club, a member emeritus of Manry Hunt Club as well as a 50-year member emeritus of Courtland Masonic Lodge No. 85. He is survived by two sisters, Doris W. Applewhite and Elizabeth O. Whitehead; his sister-in-law, Eleanor W. Whitehead, all of Sebrell; and a devoted group of caregivers, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn W. Whitehead and Hildred W. Cole; and five brothers, Ryland, Bradford, Elton, Geno and Jordan W. Whitehead. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the family square in Riverside Cemetery , Courtland , by the Rev. Elizabeth Von Trapp Walker. The family will receive visitors in the home of Marsha and Brad Whitehead, 17340 River Road, Courtland . In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sebrell United Methodist Church, c/o Janet Kitchen, 16283 Plank Road, Courtland , VA 23837, or a charity of choice.
