Grace Edwards Whitfield, 86, died Jan. 9, 1992, in a Suffolk hospital.  

Mrs. Whitfield was born in Southampton County. She was a member of Sunbeam Baptist Church and High Street Senior Citizens Club. She was the widow of Charles Ashby Whitfield.  

Survivors include three sisters, Katherine Weaver of Franklin, Martha Bishop of Carrsville and Vassie Shelton of Norfolk, and four brothers, L.T. Edwards, Cecil Edwards, William T. Edwards and Robert Edwards, all of Franklin.  

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Kenneth Williams. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home and other times at 168 Covey Road.

Mrs. Whitfield was born in Southampton County. She was a member of Sunbeam Baptist Church and High Street Senior Citizens Club. She was the widow of Charles Ashby Whitfield.
