Harrell Whitley Jr. of the 1600 block of Clay Street died Feb. 24, 2000. He was a member of High Street United Methodist Church and the Woodmen of the World Holly Camp 18. He retired from Union Camp, now International Paper, from the Maintenance Department. He was the son of the late Elvin Harrell Whitley Sr. and Mary L. Whitley of Carrsville, Va. He is survived by his wife, Ira Edwards Whitley; two sons, Gerald E. Whitley and his wife, Jeannie, of Franklin, and Elvin Harrell ``Hal'' Whitley III and his wife, Linda, of Carrsville; two granddaughters, Anne Renee' Whitley and Ashley Dawn Whitley; and a brother, Charles Rowland Whitley of Carrsville. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Louise Whitley and Sallie Mae Holland; and a brother, Oliver E. Whitley. The Rev. Tommy Speight will hold funeral services at Courtland Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park , Franklin. The family will receive relatives and friends at Holland-Rideout Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and at other times at the home of Gerald Whitley, 700 Rebecca St., Franklin.
