Obituary of Michael Raye Wilkerson MICHAEL RAYE WILKERSON Virginian Pilot - 10-05-2004 FRANKLIN - Michael Raye Wilkerson, 47, dedicated and loving husband, father and friend to many, died Oct. 4, 2004, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Born in Richmond, Va., Mike was a 1975 graduate of Franklin High School and a car salesman for 13 years, having worked for the Blake, Champion and Cavalier dealerships. A member of the Delaware Hunt Club, he was an active hunter, fisherman and softball coach. He was a member of True Word Christian Church. Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Darlene Jones Wilkerson; two daughters, Brandi Wilkerson and Caitlin Wilkerson, both of the home; his mother, Ada Griffey of Norfolk; his father, Willie Lee "Wickie" Wilkerson of Franklin; a sister, Barbara Nixon and husband Charles of Sebrell, Va.; a brother, Mark Wilkerson and wife Yvonne of Suffolk; a niece and several nephews. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Worth officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Horeb Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and suggest memorials be made to the True Word Christian Church, Wilkerson Benevolent Fund, P.O.
