NEWSOMS - Nellie Worrell Story, 89, died Monday, April 1, 2002, at Southampton Memorial Hospital. Born in Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Arthur Worrell and Naomi Jane Crumpler Worrell. Mrs. Story was the widow of James Thomas "Tick" Story Jr. to whom she was married for 56 years. She attended Longwood College and was a member of Newsoms Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, James Thomas Story III and wife Barbara of Houston, Texas, and Lewis Edward Story of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, James E. Worrell and wife Blanche of Suffolk; five grandchildren, Jennifer G. Story of Greensboro, N.C., Allison L. Story and James T. Story IV, both of Dallas, Texas, Lewis E. Story Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., James S. Story of Manchester, Mo.; a great-granddaughter, Katelyn Louise Story; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Gladys W. Pope and Carrie W. Railey and a brother, Lewis Arthur Worrell Jr.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Hollywood Cemetery , Newsoms , with the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Boykins Chapel of Wright Funeral Home.
