Shirley Zeigler Wallace, 84, DIED Jan. 2, 2005.
Born May 15, 1920, in Rocky Mount, Va., she was the daughter of the late
Beverly Brad and Mildred Cooney Zeigler, widow of Douglas Dee Wallace
Sr., and mother of the late Douglas Dee Wallace Jr. and Barbara Wallace
Shelton.
Mrs. Wallace was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and for
35 years served in the Suffolk City School System as a teacher and
guidance counselor.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kay Wallace Best and G.
Lewis Best Jr. of Richmond; sister, E.J. Grimes of Frederick, Md.;
brother Richard Zeigler of Belpre, Ohio; grandchildren, George Lewis
Best III, Anne Best Barker, Douglas Dee Wallace, III, Chrles Christopher
Shelton, Mathew Palmer Wallace, Clifton Hawn Shelton; four
great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Sandra Nunn Wallace of South
Boston; and son-in-law, Clyde C. Shelton, of Virginia Beach.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Cedar Hill
Cemetery by the Rev. Robert J. Parks, Jr. The family will receive
friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory today from 7 to
8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Main Street United Methodist
Church Memorial Fund, 202 N. Main St., Suffolk, VA 23434 or to the
Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, VA 23439.
