She formerly taught in Isle of Wight County public schools and later worked for Vaughan Co. many years. She was a graduate of the College of William and Mary and the American Institute of Banking. She was a former secretary to the 4th District, House of Delegates, and past secretary-treasurer of the American Legion Unit 73. She was a member of Franklin Christian Church, Agnes Lee Chapter, Daughters of the Confederacy, Franklin Womans Club, and Womans Golf Association. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Louise Drake Soden of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Mrs. Wayland E. Major of Newport News and three brothers, Theodore R. Drake and James C. Drake of Sedley, and Freddie F. Drake of Suffolk and nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home by the Revs. R. E. Brittle and John Kelly. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
