He was the husband of Mrs. Martha McLane Beale and a son of James (Boge) [Bogue sic] and Mrs. Mary Willis Beale of Southampton County. He was a member of Franklin Baptist church, its Menís Burner Class, Pythians, and Woodmen of the World. Surviving, besides his wife, are three sons, John E. Beale, Jr., Lloyd McLane Beale, and James Robert Beale, all of Franklin; one daughter, Mrs. Wallace Harrison [Margaret Ann] of Franklin; eight grandchildren [Jane Parker, Rebecca McLane, John E III, Fenton Wallace Harrison Jr., Lloyd McLane "Mac", Wayne Clay Harrison, Robert Edwin "Bob", William Keaton "Bill"]; one brother, Williard Beale [:ina Sue]of Franklin, and three sisters, Mrs. Paul Rose [Lina Sue] of Franklin, Mrs. J.C. Bristow [Severna May "Maie"] of Norfolk and Mrs. W.T. Powell [Annie B] of Lawrence [Lawrenceville sic]. A funeral service was held at the church today (Thursday) at 2:30 p.m. by his pastor, the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, and the Rev. Carr Lee Ousley, pastor of Holland Baptist Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were L. Britt Holland, Ryland Brooks, Ashby Rawls, F.F. Powell, G.C.
