ROCKY MOUNT - Gertie Baines Keen, 80, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1992.

She was born Feb. 11, 1912, in Nash County, daughter of the late Abijah and Cora Collie Baines. She was widow of James W. Keen.

Surviving: daughters, Betty K. Carter and Lois Jean Cary, both of Rocky Mount; son, James Melvin Keen of Rocky Mount; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Baines Hux of Rocky Mount and Belle Higson of Hampton, Va.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home, Sunset Avenue, with the Rev. Coy Still officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Nashville.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, other times at the home, 221 Churchview Dr.
