MYRTLE BEACH － John Franklin Blalock, 62, of 10 Foxcroft Lane died Saturday. Born in Moore County, N.C., he was a son of the late Albert Franklin and Jennie Cordelia Blalock. 

A World War II Navy veteran, he was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, active in the community chorus and a Mason. He attended Kings Business College and received his associate's degree from Richmond Community College of Hamlet, N.C. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. 

Surviving are his wife, Adelaide Powell Blalock; a daughter, Julie B. Peters of Rockingham, N.C.; a son, John F. Blalock Jr. of Mars Hill, N.C.; and a sister, Virginia B. Morman of Roswell, Ga. 

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at p First United Methodist Church, with burial at 4 p.m. in Lakeland Memorial Cemetery of Monroe, N.C. Memorials may be made to the church.
