Obituary of Carrie Blythe 15 Feb 1911 - 17 Oct 1996 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Carrie Blythe Saunders, 85, of 133 Kings Highway, died October 17, 1996. A native of Nansemond County, she was the daughter of the late Lafayette and Nancy Carr Blythe. For over 60 years Mrs. Saunders was a Oakland Christian Church, where she taught School, was in charge of the altar flowers for many years, was a member of the Newman Bible Class and Circle 1. She started the first Brownie Scout Troop in Chuckatuck. Survivors include her husband, Harve Francis Saunders Sr.; a daughter, Peggy Saunders Garvey of Waynesboro; two sons, Harvey F. Saunders Jr. of Smithfield, William G. (Jerry) Saunders of Chuckatuck; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; three sisters, Essie Holland of Raleigh, N.C., Otelia Felton and Mary Burres, both of Suffolk. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. in Oakland Christian Church by the Rev. Mark L. Burns. Burial will be in Newman Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the R.W.
