Suffolk, Va., March 9.—The oldest man in Southampton County is dead. He was Edwin Bradshaw, and he was ninety years old. The deceased was not only the old est man in Southampton, but the oldest Mason in the country. He was a charter member of the Berlin lodge, and when, in the lapse years, that lodge failed, he transferred his jnembershlp to the lodge at Ivor. The funeral services were held at his home at Vicksville, Southampton County, and the interment was made with Masonic honors. Mr. Bradshaw was born in Southampton in 1822, and is survived by three sons, Charles Bradshaw, A. G Bradshaw and R. M. Bradshaw. Mr. Bradshaw remembered the Nat Turner insurrection, the Mexican War, was forty-three years of age in the Civil War, and has seen almost every kind of modern invention and convenience come into use. He retained his vigor and strength of mind and body up to the last year of his life, and was a constant attendant on the Circuit Court of his county. Mr. Bradshaw was a charter member of the Berlin lodge, and when in the lapse years, that lodge ceased to exist, he transferred his membership to the lodge at Ivor. He remembered the "Nat" Turner insurrection, the Mexican war, and could recall the names of many persons who lived in Southampton county before the war between the states.
