He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Miami, He also obtained an MA in History from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He did additional graduate study at the Universitv of Florida. He was a Veteran of WWII. He was a member of the American Legion, also a member of the Elks, and a member of the University Club. He was faculty advisor for Sigma Alpha Mu as well as Clio Clio Clio. He selected and coached the U of M entry in the College Bowl. He taught history and Constitutional Development at the University of Miami and Parsons College, Fairfield, Iowa. He was predeceased by his wife, Billie Jane of 61 years. He leaves behind two daughters, Carol Anier (Alex) and Candy Winfrey (Randy), six grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and two brothers.
