Claude Crawford Carr 14 SEP 1882 - 23 AUG 1953 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Claude Crawford Carr Claude Crawford Carr, 69, a lifelong resident of the Walters community, died at his home on Sunday, August 23, after several years of ill health. He was the son of the late Lysander H. and Mrs. Sarah Bradshaw Carr, and was a member of Mt. Carmel Congregation Christian Church and of Beech, Camp 186, Woodmen of the World. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Maggie Eva Carr of Walters, and a son, Fletcher J. Carr of Roanoke. Funeral services were conducted at Mt. Carmel Church on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock by Rev. Ellis Clark of Windsor, with burial in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The Woodmen of the World conducted services at the grave and served as honorary pallbearers. Active pallbearers were Howard Carr, Jasper Carr, Stanley English, Otis Joyner, Charley Munford, Ross Munford, Lynn Wade and Willie Wade. W. 186 Mr. Carr is survived by his wife Mrs. Maggie Eva Carr, of Walters; one son, Fletcher J Carr of Roanoke, and several nieces and nephews. The body was taken to Mt. Carmel Church Tuesday, one hour prior to the services conducted at 2 P M. by the Rev. Ellis Clark, of Windsor. Burial was in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The Woodmen of the World conducted services at the grave, and served as honorary pallbearers at the funeral.
