MATHEWS - Howard A. Davis, 73, of Mobjack, died Friday [10 June 1983] in Walter Reed Memorial Hospital, Gloucester. He was a retired chief officer in the merchant marine, member of the Master Mates & Pilots (Offshore Division), and a member of Emmanuel Methodist Church.  

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret White Davis of Mobjack; two daughters, Mrs. JoAnn Williams of Mobjack and Mrs. Barbara Hudgins of Bavon; a son, Robert Davis of Mechanicsville; a brother, Edwin Jackson of Mobjack; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.  

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday [12 June 1983] in Foster Faulkner Funeral Home by the Rev. John Leepers of Smyrna Christian Church at Bruington. Burial will be in the Heritage Memorial Park, Dutton.
